The Gruesome Cartoon Movie Ending That Lingers Audiences

Out of every adult-oriented animated films I have ever viewed, no other has lingered in my mind as much as the dread-soaked ending of a viscerally violent and highly provocative film from 2022 Unicorn Wars.

Back in the year 2015, the Spain-based filmmaker created a grim, melancholy and frequently brutal universe that included several minor , desolate twinges of optimism.

While Unicorn Wars appears as it originated from a desire to advance the medium further, the director clarified that it was rather a try to communicate a universal, cross-cultural theme concerning “the shared root of each battle.”

That message is communicated by means of a group of colorful pastel bears , obviously based on a famous series of lovable characters.

Growing up in a community built around aggression as well as the military-industrial complex, numerous these creatures are obsessed with killing the mythical beasts, due to a holy book that tells the bears they were once rulers of the forest, until the unicorns forced them out.

Some have not completely fallen for the propaganda, and prefer to experiment with drugs or fornicate in the forest.

Unlike their gentle counterparts, these colorful critters show sexual organs and definite urges.

For one especially vicious, cynical bear, Bluey, the conflict against the unicorns turns into a path to power — and especially to dominance over his more tender, more compassionate sibling the character Tubby.

The character behaves aggressively and an apparent antisocial figure , and while horror takes over his group and claims his teammates sequentially, he takes increasingly influence on his own behalf, through ever more violent, damaging approaches.

At the same time, these mythical beings are suffering their own nightmare, in the form of a growing, destructive monster in their woods.

“At the beginning, it appears as a comedy,” the director commented. “Yet it turns into a more dramatic and sad film. And ultimately, it becomes a scary feature.”

Unicorn Wars starts out feeling a bit like one of the most whimsical features from an iconic filmmaker, which find a naughty glee in allowing animated figures swear, engage in violence, or have intimate relations.

Afterward it evolves into something more like a more grim movie from the same director, featuring progressively visual gore and a tangible connection to the real tragedy of conflict.

By the end, it is a complete extreme drama carnage.

The fear which makes the film an ideal spooky-season movie begins well before than indicated.

Unicorn Wars is suited for the most dedicated gorehounds, for enthusiasts of extreme cinema who desire to watch a movie they have not watched previously, and are able to withstand a narrative that offers absolutely no punches.

View it in a dimly lit space free from interruptions, and that ending will dig into your mind and stay with you.
