President Trump Calls Relatives of Attacked Guard Members to the Presidential Residence

President Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the executive mansion.

He noted that he contacted her family and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Tragic Incident

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a violent incident on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have taken place in their honor.

White House Invitation

The commander-in-chief explained he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both individuals of the state National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” Trump told reporters. “And similarly with him, no matter the outcome.”

Community Reaction

Attendees assembled over the weekend at the high school in the state to honor Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s national effort to support law enforcement in DC.

Remembering the Soldier

“Sarah was the type of pupil that teachers wished for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that encouraged people around her,” Hankins, the principal of her previous school, informed the Associated Press. “She was kind, compassionate and always eager to support those in need.”

Funeral details for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Measures and Government Adjustments

Officials have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of homicide and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy caused the administration to halt asylum processing and halt granting visas to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Wolfe

Wolfe, a resident of the city, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, according to the Associated Press.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Morrisey said on a news program.

Attorney general Pam Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she planned to speak to his relatives.

Memory of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a MP with distinction, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had bravery,” Morrisey told the audience at the vigil. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
