Orbital Photographs Indicate Iran's Navy and Atomic Sites Damaged by Joint US and Israeli Strikes.

A wave of joint strikes has reportedly destroyed or damaged at least 11 Iranian naval vessels starting Saturday, recently obtained aerial photos show, with launch facilities and enrichment plants also being targeted.

Pictures of the southern Konarak naval military port and the Bandar Abbas port facility, which overlooks the strategic Hormuz Strait and is home to the headquarters of the Iran's naval force, depict black smoke pouring from multiple vessels on recent days.

Maritime Forces Sustained Major Losses

Included in the targets eliminated was the Makran, Iran's most sizable ship which had served as a unmanned aerial vehicle platform. Aerial imagery showed thick smoke rising from the ship which had been moored at the Bandar Abbas naval base.

Analytical assessments state that at least a quintet of warships at Bandar Abbas were "struck or destroyed". Photos of the south end of the harbor reveal smoke rising from the IRINS Makran, while additional ships seem to be harmed, with one of them seen burning.

Over at Konarak, images display several harmed vessels, with analysis identifying strikes against a half-dozen warships. Pictures taken on the start of the week also demonstrate that a number of facilities at the installation have been leveled.

"For many years the Iranian regime has disrupted international shipping," a senior US military official said. "Today, there is not one Iranian vessel underway in the Arabian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz or Sea of Oman, and we will not stop."

A number of ships allegedly destroyed may have been concealed in satellite images by cloud or smoke, or hit in open waters, and have not been conclusively proven. Other accounts indicated that one Iranian ship was sinking off the coast of Sri Lankan territorial waters, leading to a search and rescue mission.

Rocket Bases and Nuclear Facilities Attacked

The destruction of Iran's rocket sites and the hindering of enrichment activities were stated as additional aims of the air campaign. Aerial imagery also revealed damage at the southerly Khorgu and north-western Tabriz missile bases, and at the Konarak air base, where rocket warehouses and fortifications were targeted.

At the Choqa Balk-e drone drone base west of the city of Kermanshah, widespread damage was seen to warehouses, bunkers and drone launch equipment.

Destruction was also observed at a surveillance station at the Zahedan airbase airbase in eastern Iran, close to the border with neighboring nations.

Of particular note, the most recent series of strikes have apparently focused on installations at the Natanz complex – widely believed to be at the core of Iran's atomic program. A global monitoring agency said that the damaged structures were used for entry to the facility's below-ground nuclear plant and that "no nuclear fallout" was expected.

Broader Impact and Assessment

Observers suggested that the offensive appeared to have "significantly degraded" the Iran's naval capability to carry out conventional attacks using its most significant warships. Nevertheless, it was emphasised that Iran still has the option to launch unconventional attacks at sea through the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, mini-submarines and its so-called "ghost fleet" of oil ships.

The overall extent of the damage caused to Iranian military facilities is still uncertain, with hostilities said to be continuing. Imagery also reveals considerable damage to the headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the city of Tehran.

Numerous of public facilities also seem to have been struck in the capital and throughout the country after the fighting began. Casualty figures from ground sources indicate that many hundreds of non-combatants may have been fatally injured in the attacks.

As the situation develops, analysis of space-based data will continue to document the evolving scope of damage.
