Democratic lawmakers Denounce Trump After He States They Should Face Death Penalty

Lawmakers from the Democratic party voiced anger after the ex-president alleged a group of Democratic representatives of being "turncoats" and asserted they should be detained and penalized "with execution" following their release of a controversial video.

The Recording That Provoked the Dispute

The video footage, published on Tuesday, includes six Democratic lawmakers who formerly worked in armed forces or defense capacities.

"As we did, you all made an vow to safeguard and uphold this constitution," the representatives affirmed in the brief video. "Currently, the threats to our governing document aren't just from overseas, but from within our own country. Our regulations are clear, you can decline improper directives, you can decline unlawful commands, you should reject illegal orders. No one has to carry out directives that violate the statutes or our constitution."

Trump's Angry Reaction

The clip seemed to trigger a angry reply from the previous commander-in-chief.

On the following morning, Trump published on his social media platform: "This constitutes SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. Each one of these traitors to our Country should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL."

In another post, he wrote: "This represents really serious, and Dangerous to our United States. Their statements cannot be allowed to remain. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP???"

In a third publication, he continued: "SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!" He also reposted a comment that said: "HANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD !!"

Party Representatives React

Following Trump's comments on that day, Top Democrats released a combined announcement censuring the statements.

"Partisan aggression has no role in this nation," they stated. "Elected officials who appeared in the video all acted our country with great loyalty and excellence. We clearly condemn Donald Trump's appalling and risky threats of violence against congressional representatives, and call on House Republicans to vigorously do the same."

The party representatives also said that they had been in communication with law enforcement "to make certain the protection of these representatives and their families."

"Donald Trump must immediately delete these radical social media posts and withdraw his dangerous rhetoric before he leads to violence," the announcement added.

Officials' Defiant Reaction

The lawmakers who were featured in the video also published a declaration.

"We serve as veterans and defense specialists who care for this country and took an pledge to defend and support the constitution of the United States," they declared. "This commitment continues forever, and we plan to keep it. No warning, intimidation, or call for violence will stop us from that fundamental responsibility."

"The significant point is that the former president deems it punishable by execution for us to restate the statutes," they added. "Military personnel should recognize that we have their support as they carry out their pledge to the constitution and obligation to adhere to only proper directives. It is not only the proper thing to do, but also our duty."

They continued: "The entire nation must come together and denounce the former president's demands for our death and ideological conflict. This is a moment for ethical certainty."

Additional Governmental Comments

The Senate Democratic leader also censured Trump's remarks and published on online networks: "It's important to understand: the former president is calling for the execution of elected officials."

He added: "This represents an outright THREAT. Each congressional member, every Representative, all citizens – without partisan consideration – should denounce this right away and absolutely."

The Republican House speaker supported Trump's assertion that the Democrats had engaged in "rebellion", labeling the video as "highly unsuitable", stating: "It is very risky, you have leading members of the legislature telling soldiers to defy commands, I think that represents historic in US history."

The Conservative representative also reportedly informed media outlets that in what he reviewed of Trump's messages, Trump was "describing the crime of rebellion" but that "legal experts have to examine the language and establish all that."

Executive Branch Statement

During a administration briefing on Thursday afternoon, when inquired by a journalist, "Is the president want to put to death congressional representatives?", the White House press secretary replied: "Absolutely not."

"We should understand about what the former president is responding to," the spokesperson declared. "There are active officials of the American legislature who conspired to orchestrate a recorded statement to personnel of the American armed forces, to serving soldiers encouraging them to defy the president's proper directives."

She stated: "The purity of our armed forces rests on the hierarchy, and if that system is compromised, it can result in casualties, it can result in confusion, and that is exactly what these members of Congress ... are fundamentally encouraging."
